Ep 78. INTERVIEW: Pedro Piccoli | Revenue Manager | Bavaria (Germany)
After a series of episodes interviewing hospitality revenue managers, time to get a different view on the topic. And who best than Pedro Piccoli, who has managed revenue for industrial and consumer good companies, to then go into transport (buses) and rent a car.
During our conversation Pedro talked about:
HIS CAREER:
From applying dynamic prices in the beer industry in Brazil, to Ops research. Focused on Revenue because he likes to play and discover, see how changes affect decision making, have an impact on profitability and customers.
REVENUE in DIFFERENT INDUSTRIES:
Industries can learn from each other. The hospitality does not apply many new technologies -as opposed to other industries-. It’s all about investment , software, consulting and the use of SaaS
FOCUS POST PANDEMIC:
Adapt the revenue management as it’s an unprecedented scenario. Prepare ourselves, might be a chance to set new pricing strategies. Can not rely everything on an algorithm, as it’s based on data which we might not have. Certain tasks should be done by machines, the person should strategize
TOTAL REVENUE:
Need to understand the elasticity, if price increases, how can the extras be priced? Other industries might have more data points prior to the arrival vs hotels.
ADVICE FOR THE YOUNG / SKILLS TO SUCCEED:
Negotiation and influencing, as you have to persuade your GM on why your strategy is best Mathematical skills Need to understand about AI, speak the language of IT. I hope you find it as insightful as I did.
